New York State Police troopers conducted a traffic stop on the Taconic State Parkway of the driver of a 2019 Jeep Compass in Yorktown at approximately 10:50 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 14, for vehicle and traffic violations.
During the stop, police said that the driver, Watervliet, New York resident Kenyatta Ingram, Jr., 30, refused to comply with troopers and a struggle ensued.
According to police, a State Police canine was utilized, and a taser was deployed before Ingram could be taken into custody. Both Ingram and a trooper were taken to the New York-Presbyterian Hudson Valley Hospital for treatment on minor injuries.
Further investigation found that Ingram was in possession of approximately 697 grams of MDMA, 75 grams of marijuana and 34 grams of cocaine.
Ingram was arrested and charged with:
- Second-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance;
- Two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance;
- Obstruction of Governmental Administration;
- Resisting arrest, and;
- Disorderly conduct.
Following his arrest, Ingram was arraigned in the Town of Yorktown Court and released. He is scheduled to appear back in court on Tuesday, Feb. 11 to respond to the charges.
